Isn't this the best time of year? I remember when I was little (or at least younger) thinking that Halloween was the start of it all. Starting with Halloween, there is practically non-stop holidays and celebrations through January 1st.
Thanksgiving
My Birthday
Christmas
New Years...
But lets start with Halloween!!!
And my adorable kids who make celebrating this holiday SOOOO much more fun than I EVER imagined it could be! Forget trick-or-treating or dressing up when you are a kid, when you have your own kids it is 10-times the fun! Seeing their faces light up as they dress up as anything they want to be. It is pure magic.
And seeing how exciting it is for a little kid who just discovered that by simply saying "Trick-or-Treat" delivers a handful of candy into their waiting bag.... it doesn't take them long to figure that part out.
The fun of watching them share their costume, and "what they are for the day" with EVERY PERSON they meet.
It's magical!
This year for Halloween my girls raided their dress-up box (which I am proud to say I have stocked with some pretty cute costumes which I have made or come across over the past year.)
I have to admit, I think we looked like group straight out of a fairy tale..... or two.
I was Red Riding Hood
Jarom: a Musketeer
Taysia: Cinderella
Phoenix: was a fairy
Cape: made from a DI sheet the night before! For the top I cut the neck out of a large button-up shirt from DI to make it look like a peasant top... Paired with a belt, leggings and boots... Easy costume.
So, through the parties and fun, we've had a lot of fun starting out the season, and I can't wait to see what else this year has in store for us.
