A BUSY month

I have so many fun things to report I don't know if they will all fit in one post.

First, Jarom and I tackled a fun project of turning his room into a cool little boy's room. He needed more bright colors so it would look less like a baby boy room, and more like a "big boy" room. We took down the baby blue curtains, and made some new bright colored ones, painted his dresser from a strange orange stain, to black...

Added some fun wall art that we made together (I've never seen him so excited or so proud as when we hung up all his "hands" on the wall), and moved his bedroom furniture around a little. IT TURNED OUT AWESOME!
The only thing that I spent money on was $6.50 for the material to sew his curtains.
I LOVE IT!!!

Obviously, he does too!

We also took a little break when Thayne finished his classes for the semester and visited my family in Oregon. Where I threw a baby shower for my sister (who I just found out is in the hospital right now having her baby!!! (insert a little squeel of excitement) :)

I had to keep it all low budget, but I think it turned out super fun ! I had a good time anyway!

We played a few games...

Measuring her belly... whoever guessed the closest won.

Baby Word Scramble

A matching game with candy bar prizes to go with each one. (I got the idea for that at my own baby shower, and it was a huge hit!) for example the prize for turning over both cards that said umbilical cord was a nerds rope, or for Premature infant they got runts... etc.

Memory tray game...

...and tons of awesome food.

This is what I came up with for low budget prizes:
I bought a couple scrap 2x4s from the Home Depot for $1.06, cut them into chunks with my handy-dandy chop saw, painted them (YES it took FOREVER - 5 hours or more for each set) and used them for my prizes for each of the games. They were a hit! (and they were cheap; double bonus!

** more pictures coming of prizes, diaper cake and decorations ... they are on the other comp... with no internet.**

This one was going to be included with the prizes, but when I finally finished it (this one took like 8 hours to paint) I couldn't give it up. So I saved it for myself. ( I know... I am a little greedy sometimes!)

These were my party favors that everyone took home with them. I cut a TP roll in half, covered it with tissue paper, and then wrapping paper, tied the ends with ribbon, and stuffed it with easter clearance candy :P

It was so fun to throw a baby shower, I am looking forward to do it again!!!

This is what I found when I came out of my quick shower one day!!! Jarom found some scissors, and decided to redecorate.

Oh yes, and he gave himself a haircut....

and Taysia.

I guess it could have been worse.

HUGE NEWS FOR US:

We finally got a piano. (I have been waiting for this day for so long!) I can't thank my parents enough for it!!! Or my AWESOME brother for delivering it!
Can you believe that someone would just give this away???
My parents; AKA the ones who can find the deal of the century on just about anything, found this for us. The most amazing part to me is that the last time it was tuned was in 1947 and this thing is still in tune and has incredible sound!!!

My pride and joy!!!
... and yes, I think the piano is pretty cool too!

While visiting Nanna and Papa, we helped them load and move two wheel lines. It was a lot of fun. I miss that part of farming... the whole, being in wide open spaces, and working.

Jarom was so excited to be a part of the excitement. He thought it was so cool to walk on the trailer filled with pipes and see if he could do it without falling.

LOVE. THIS. KID.

AND THIS ONE!!!

It was insanely windy - as you can tell- but we had so much fun!

Nanna found some mud boots for Jarom. He was so cute, kicking over gofer mounds, and running everywhere.

They love their Nanna!

Kicking rocks with his boots!

Ammon and Thayne loaded all the pipe onto the trailer. Every now and then they would find a ground squirel in one of the pipes, and so they would do whatever it took to get it out, including standing a 35 foot pipe on end and lifting and dropping it onto the ground to get the squirel to fall out - they do not come out easy!

And.... the pipes are heavy and hard to control when there is a strong wind.

They had fun doing it. We came back later with the .22s.

Jarom helped me drive the big truck while the boys (and Nanna loaded pipes and wheels) He loved it... until we went freewheeling down a hill with no breaks... that was a little scary.... probably more for Thayne and Ammon who were trying to move pipes out of the way as fast as they could so we didn't run over them... or maybe for my dad who was hanging on for dear life in the back of the truck, trying to ballance stacks of wheels without getting burried beneath them, all the while telling me to pump the breaks.... which I was DEFINETLY doing... with no results until suddenly...... it stopped.
That was almost worse than freewheeling.

He's a natural farm boy! :)

While at Nanna and Papa's house Jarom got attatched to some baby kittens.... they barely had their eyese open.

So we brought a couple home. I only wanted ONE... the cute little long haired grey and white one to be exact.... but that was the one that got a hurt shoulder and died this morning. I didn't know what to do. I tried everything, but he just kind of gave up. We burried him this morning, and Jarom is sure Heavenly Father and Grandpa Dawson are taking care of it for him.

Now we are just left with the whiney one who has too much energy, and cries all day long.
But I guess thats ok... Jarom still loves him.

Other news to report:
It is finally spring!!!

Taysia chillin' on the lawn mower.

Since the day the snow melted it is all I can do to get my kids to come inside to eat and sleep. They are LOVING the sunshine!!! Jarom's face shows it too. The poor kid is pretty pink on the cheeks.... but he's to busy to stop for sunscreen.

The first warm day we had jarom was out washing his car.

It was one of the cutest things I have ever seen. Taysia just watched him from her seat on the lawn mower.

In addition to everything else we've had going on, I have also managed to keep up with all the baby orders

.... with a little help of course.

Holy Cow!! You are, by far, one of the most talented people I have ever met! Jarom's room turnd out so great and I absolutely love the handprint idea. You piano is gorgeous - I love the bench, very unique. Your baby shower ideas were awesome and I love the prize (even if you kept it for yourself... you deserve it!)
